Ooo the west side is one of the sides I have yet to receive a direct shot of. It would be nice to have a full picture of it without squinting my eyes due to a weird angle.

Pat, just for clarity is the ball room the Music Room? I'd imagine there may had been some sound proofing involved, the size of that room probably required stronger materials and different architectural techniques. The music hall is something like... 70% of the east wing of the parlor floor.

Also do you know if the basement and sub basement for the primary building and the dining hall ( not including turret building ) where the same shape and size of the upper floors? If you could give a vague description of the shape and size it could help :3

Yeah Pat, that converted porch which has collapsed around the turret building is very misleading. Who knows maybe it served as a barrier against the elements for the structure itself.

Regardless all I have is random exploration videos and countless photos. It gives insight into the structural integrity of the building, but not certainty.

As for the East Wing ( as named on the floor plans posted on this sight ) I think having a huge music hall on the parlor floor is a pretty big disadvantage. Also numerous converted Gable to Shed dormer roofs have been sheared off by weather... darn shed dormers...

By the way I think the Chimney's could make good fence spacers maybe... Speaking of Chimneys I wonder what happened to the Turret Building Chimney and old Dining hall GIANT Chimney~

Pat I've seen a few images of the West wing as recent as last year from inside. While there are some areas where floors are shakey. I don't think west wing is anywhere near total collapse.

I cannot determine the condition of the expansions added to Halcyon, but judging from roof condition, west wing has the least wear of the three primary sections. The "Center Wing" which links east and West is definitely close to a total collapse. An extended dormer in the courtyard also collapsed on the otherside similar to the primary one we see often in photos.

Of the four original halcyon hall parts, and based off of recent interior exploration videos. I'd say the east east wing ( turret ) building has a good 20+ more years. West Wing maybe 10-15.

I know nothing. All my information comes from random sources. Most of my knowledge about the building itself comes from closely analyzing photos/videos taken from urban explorers.

The drone videos I've known about for awhile, simply amazing. Also that is the first time I learned how accurate my roof work was. Before that all I had was a very low detail google sat photo to go off from.

I'm still trying to find any kind of real basement information that would help me finish the last two floors.

I also made an attic for the hipped roof in the east wing. I had a lot of unused space up there so I figured I'd make it an unfinished attic for fun.

of course in reality that insulation would be asbestos... but lets ignore that inaccuracy lol!

Otherwise its just a slow going to finishing hallways/rooms

People let their imaginations run wild. Often you will see videos of abandoned buildings, and in their comments section you will ALWAYS find people saying stuff like.... "I saw something in the window!" "how many ghosts haunt this place" "this place is haunted!"

Well, this superstitious behavior is what has brought down many historical buildings that could of been saved. A pitty really, people pander to their fear rather than their common sense.

Halcyon Hall is a piece of art left to rot. That is all, nothing more, nothing less. She is art, respect her. Don't insult her by turning her into some 2 star rated horror film.

Hate to say it but the next to go is the bay window dormer combo, the whole central building then its just a crawl to the rest.

So it took a lot of work but I think I finally managed to finish the exterior of Halcyon Hall. ( minus landscaping and getting those chimneys right ~ )

Hope everyone is doing okay! Hopefully someone can tell me anything annnyyything about the basement layouts, like are they similar to the upper floors or more like a your typical basement OR a mix~

I used to go to this theater on Saturdays in the 60s with my friends. It was the most magnificent theater I have ever seen. It is part of why I love Brooklyn forever. No matter how Flatbush has changed over the years, it is forever in my mind as the best place in the world for a kid to grow up.

Actually the abandoned photo isn't the same room as the photo below, this abandoned room is somewhat of a mystery to me. My best guess is it is the eastern wing building's lower floor. Possibly it could also be the lower floor of the building on the opposite side of the courtyard. But my bets go for eastern east wing building. The one with the turret.

The architecture here is quite different also, and the turret building's lower level was remade at some point. It used to be a huge open porch. Which could explain the different style.
