It looks like she is crying for her loss!
I attended Eden Hall and was in the last graduating class in 1969. It was all on television, but it was so so sad. My mother and grandmother graduated from Eden Hall too! This chapel was beautiful and brought peace to anyone who entered. It makes me sick to think what vandals did to her, what a shame. I have never seen another church or chapel that could equal the workmanship. Eden Hall will always be in my heart!
My mom was raised right next door to Eden Hall my grandfather Ed Mooney was a caretaker there I have so many memories of my childhood while the buildings were intact in the 60's and 70's such a shame to see it all destroyed
ESTUVE UN AÑO EN EDEN HALL , EN 1947,ASI QUE YA SE IMAGINARAN LOS RECUERDOS QUE ME TRJERON ESTAS FOTOGRAFIAS DE LA CAPILLA. LA BIBLITECA ERA HERMOSA TAMBIEN. QUE PENA QUE NO LAS PROTEGIERAN. ERAN UNAS JOYAS ARQUITECTONICAS QUE NO DEBIERON SER DESTRUIDAS.
YO SOY DE MEXICO Y VIVI MUY FELIZ EN EL COLEGIO.
It was so beautiful ! What a shame.....
I am from Monterrey, Mexico, and studied there for a year, in 1947. Now my grandson who lives in the U.S., sent me this, that was a surprise. I am so sad to hear that Eden Hall, the whole school, was burnt down. But anyway, the pictures brought back so many good memories..
Maybe I have forgotten my english, but not what I experienced there.

Thank you, Mr. Motts. Thank you for preserving Eden Hall in pictures, even in its dilapidated state. I would have loved to have seen Eden Hall when it still functioned as a school and this beautiful chapel was still a House of God.

V V, it was after reading your book that brought me to this site.

Next to the empty altar, this is the saddest shot of them all.

A picture is indeed worth a thousand words.

Martha, how fortunate you were to have been able to go there.

To demolish such beauty is a sin indeed.

Out of sight, out of mind; the Society of the Sacred Heart perhaps wanted to forget what they once were.

We could use Catholic boarding schools like this again.
Its absolutely disgusting that someone would burn this down. In no way am I religious, but that is rather disrespectful.

To me, the artistic detail is completely breathtaking! The expression through the angle of the light conveys an older feeling and the mouth itself isn't smiling, rather is seeming pensive and perhaps serious...in any case, it definitely caught my eye and tapped my heart...oh, and did I mention, love your site design look and feel--altogether brilliant! :-)))
So sad the song that says good-bye. I went to Eden Hall and knelt in that chapel every morning for three years. Thanks for the memories!
Make that an Altar Boy!! The elementary school which has since been relocated was St Katherine of Sienna.
I became an Alter Boy and first served in this chapel around 1950. I attended an elementary school on the Eden Hall grounds where students were taught by the Sacred Heart nuns. I remember all of Eden Hall in its glory as a convent and school for girls.
