Wow.. seeing that brings back some memories. I remember going to Rocky Point when I was a teenager (wont say how long ago that was :-S) with my stepmother to be the gold digger and my father, We went on this ride and my stepmother was so scared even though at it highest point it was only about 10 ft off the ground, She screame at the top of her lungs clinging so hard to my father he had almost instant bruising when we were able to undo her death grip...lmfao
"Baphomet is the name of the the goat-headed Satan in the pentegram-symbol of Satanism."
No it isn't. The sign used by Lavey satanism is called the sigil of baphomet and is not related to satan at all. Lavey decided to incorporate the sigil by influence of the Occulstist Eliphas Levi.
The whole concept of Baphomet is not known with certainty but it's never related to satan or a representation of satan.
One last thing, Satan was not invented by the christian church.
P.S: This drawing I guess is supposed to create a horror-like atmosphere to the people of back then, which in my guess were mostly religious. What a way to start a ride don't you think?
I really get sad looking at these pics. They said the park "wasn't making enough money". I went here when I was as young as I can remember up to when they closed it down. My band even played there.
Boy, does this bring back memories. The Haunted House was one of my favorite 'rides', & easily one of the cheesiest in the park. I remember those swinging, galley-like doors in the photo above, how the cars bumped thru them into the darkness of the house itself; the smell inside, of (diesel?) fumes, oil, grease is an indelible memory. Best of all was the skeleton figure at the end of the ride (I think): just as you rounded the corner towards the exit & out into the light of day, it pulled open its cloak & flashed its withered titties at you! Great fun.
i just found this totally amazing photo timeline of this place. check it out http://www.joenisil.com/rockypoint/
apparently it was built in the early 1900s
