I agree completely with Pete.I love this kind of simple cheese art.I mean you get some highschool kid and just tell him to draw something scary and this is what comes up.I don't take this picture seriously at all.Now if you want to see some scary and disturbing ones look at the Pennhurst pictures or any of the other abandoned asylums, thats where the disturbing stuff is.
Something really sad about this picture in the way alot of the photos of the Enchanted Forest are sad.A place where people laughed and smiled now desolate and dead.
My grandmother had a aunt who lived on oakland beach road or ave. I forget. During the 30's and 40's many family members use to visit her there and spend weekends. I remember her attic use to be filled with big ole beds that her guests used. When we went there in the early 70's I remember them as being old and dusty! LOL We spent many a days at Rocky point and at Grandmas aunts house.
I remember the day my sister went on this ride, we dropped popcorn or something on the golf course below when we returned the attendant wanted us to go to the office! HA do you think my grandmother would have anything to do with that??? She also would go on the scrambler with us!! I miss her so. RP so sad to see that place gone. RIP.
I agree with Pete. First I thought it an interesting comment on how society has changed since this mural was created, but this place didn't close until 1996. Satanists and Christians, anyone would be offended by this scene! The fact that it's inside an amusement park ride makes it even more bizarre. This pic makes me laugh and get kinda queasy at the same time.
Is everyone forgetting the true picture here. I love the fact that it looks like a crude hand painting that had no specific design other than letting a 'so called' artist go around and paint something scary without any thought of consequences of what was being displayed or who sees it.
Great capture Motts
Motts, have you ever explored the old Rocky Springs Amusement Park in Lancaster, PA? Most of it has been torn down for a retirement community, but parts were still standing a few years ago when I checked into it.
