The drawing was there when the park was open. I've never heard of any sacrificed cats. I doubt the truthfulness of this post claiming cats were sacrificed. At best, its neighborhood urban myth.

Josh,

My guess is that Satanists weren't involved at all - they are not that stupid or public or, ironically in most cases, that cruel. The much greater likelihood is that some bored asshat teenagers got together and tried to be cool and tortured some innocent animals because they weren't as smart as the animals and were a tad envious. Check out the lack of evidence for ritual Satanic abuse as investigated by the FBI: http://www.rickross.com/reference/satanism/satanism1.html

This happened in my neighborhood. This painting wasn't there when the park was open. After it was shut down, a group of local satanists inhabited the main room, and turned it into a meeting place of sorts. Neighbors figured it out eventually, and when the police finally came in, they found a bunch of sacraficed neighborhood cats. Yikes. Terrifying to have that happen in your own neighborhood.

Back in the late sixtys or early seventies I was on the skyliner at Rocky Point with my cousin. As we got to the top of the cliff one of the two boys in the lift in front of us got out on top of the cliff. As the lift turned around the boy tried to get back in but was pushed off the cliff. I will never forget that sight as I saw that boy fall down the cliff. Does anyone know if that boy lived I cannot see how he didi and how is his friend who was still in the lift. We kept yelling to him to stay in his car, all he did was yelled down to his friend Back up on the cliff he tried to pull his friend into the lift but just could not. I will never forget this day.

THIS LOOKS SCARY.
I think public entertainment tastes also contributed to it's closing. Traditional parks like Rocky Point and Whalom Park are a thing of the past. The rides are considered tame for today's kids, they want to 250 feet stomach dropping coasters like at Six Flags and the big theme parks.

Thanks for the pics. I wish I had known back in 1994 (last time I was there) that it was the begining of the end for RP... SIGH.

If someone knows how to get in touch with the folks who did the film, call them asap...the you tube site has some submissions under friends posted yesterday with bad language and drug references; doubt they want that on there since the topic is "family" related!
Yes Nance,

A fire started in the Shore DInner Hall and now they are rebuilding a gated community on it.

Sad, huh? = (
Ahhh, it was so good to see new pics of Rocky Point (thank you), but sad to see it in this state.

I can still remember riding the swings and my jelly shoe coming off and hitting someone in the head. lol

Good times, that park and all it's fun is definitely missed by all Rhode Islanders!
