All the vivid and variety of colors in this photograph are really great, Motts! Who knew that a decrepit communal bathroom could be so colorful and interesting! : )
I really like the lighting in this photo, Motts! I think you named it very appropriately!
Looks kinda sad. : ((
Lovely fireplace! However, unlike eldokid, I do NOT want to sit by it right now. The high today here is supposed to get up to 92 degrees F. Instead, I want to sit near one of my AC vents. : ))
WOW! At first I wasn't sure if this was an indoor or outdoor shot! : ) There's so much mold in this place, if I didn't know better I'd say it was located in the tropics!
@paul Unhinged!?...cute.

@Motts. Great picture!
No doubt that must be chunks of the fallen ceiling on the bed. It reminds me of large size pieces of baked flat bread. Hmm...it must be about lunch time! : )
@Freespirit76. Yes, I agree! Bay windows are really nice!...As long as there aren't bars or locked screens on them! : )
Good shot, Motts! Really nice mural! I wonder if the artist who painted this mural is the same one who painted the other murals in this building? I guess we'll never know.
@BKW Ontario. I totally agree with you there! I definitely would not have wanted to be a patient here back in the day, and have a fire start in the middle of the night. Everyone in the hospital would have been burnt toast for sure! The powers that were are just very lucky that never happened!
Okay! I think I might know what the small square door (in the doors) might have been used for. To start out with it may have been there to pass mail (like someone said) and messages to patients. But as meds started to be used for physical ailments the little square door could have been used to pass those meds to patients. Then, when psychotropic meds started coming out in liquid and pill form, the staff could have passed those meds to the patients thru the little square door....Just a thought.
Ut-Oh! : D
@Icewax. I hope you don't mind my responding to your question. I've noticed a 'few' of these metal lines in Motts' pictures of this place. I think they might be stablizing steel cables that are actually helping to hold this rotting building together, thus preventing it from totally collapsing. But what do I know? Hopefully, Motts will still give us his insight as to what the metal cables are.
I really like the brickwork that's been exposed, too. I especially like the brick arch on the left.
Really like this photo, Motts, with the bright morning sun lighting up the hallway.
