On another note, i can't agree more Mr. Motts. When i visited Pennhurst, i couldn't understand why certain sections of Whitman hall were deteriorated when others weren't. Did you happen to see the isolation cells at the other end of the building?
you people are nuts.. any good medical facility would have good lighting. the chair was obvoulsly placed in the picture for effect. and it's a wooden chair ... not really condusive to "electrical shock". you're reading way too much into this. you're looking at the present run-down facility. Come on, they had a theatre, a gym, all kinds of recreational facilities. Get a sense of history, people.
MY SON and other family have been there also... and brought back pictures too... I ALSO DO research on the unknown as a writer... i have to add to this picture... if you look close at the window on the far bottom right? a man with dark hair and the window on the top right? a naked woman ... okay on to the next pic... i an writing a book about abuse and children of the world... YES THEY SPEAK HERE... PEACE TO ALL.
If anyone cares.. It nolonger sits empty. The place has been restored and is a Veterans hospital and residential housing. The South East Veterans Center.
hmm, yes it does appear very disturbing. I was there when it was a functioning facility quite often .(more then I cared to) My Mother worked there for many years. It wasn't as creepy then. Still creepy. I was a kid and was more afraid of the patients. Not everyone who worked there abused them just remember that. Not saying my mom did or didn't. (wasn't there)
I'm just saying what I heard through my grandmother....Sorry I never mentioned the fact that my grandmother seems slightly insane herself so....maybe she isn't really that reliable.
