276 Comments for Horace Mann School (KC)

Who the hell chose the colors for these rooms? Of course, it probably kept the kids awake, the school I went to was painted all in that horrible dull green color. Between that and the boring drivel coming out of the teacher it was all a kid could do to stay awake!
That's a "Jan Brady" bike if I ever saw one! Elaine Benes of Seinfeld fame found one just like this in an antique store!
Better late than never, but as for those radiators, could they have been hot water and not steam? The grammar school I went to had radiators all over the place that I believe was a hot water system.

Wow and I thought the DPS (Detoilet Public Schools) was extremely wasteful when they closed schools...

Living in the Kansas City area, there are several schools that are now closed due to budget cuts that will fall into ruin. Mostly due to families leaving the district for better schools and better neighborhoods.

I have a feeling a lot of the clothes and non-academic detrius are probably from homeless people. Previous adventures in a different city have led me to always keep an eye out for homeless people when photographing locations like this one.
