wow. i can't believe i stumbled across this. i saw the lion king when i was 9 years old at that drive-in. it was so sad when it died. there is another really cool one that is abandoned near thomaston connecticut, you can see it from rt. 8. i took a few shots there. there really is something about abandoned drive-in theaters. they're not like abandoned hospitals, the theaters hold happy memories and good times.

I believe Canada's right that it was American Graffiti. Every year one of the local classic auto clubs hosted a night where that movie was shown, followed by a cruise up and down the pike. In 1987 or so there were so many muscle cars that the entire road shook from McDonalds to Roy Rogers.

Last thing on that sign was something about a flee market. You must've been there within a year or two before it was completely torn down, it wasn't very long before that when the sign was still complete.
Typical CT, between the yuppies whining about noise and the plague of ghettos, everything of any interest gets destroyed.
Theres still a dozen or two active drive-ins in CT alone, just have to know where to look.

btw, the comment about the "nest of filth," really Virginia, you must get out more.

Wow, I can remember going there as a kid to see Snow White on the big screen. It's odd to see it in decay. To bad it's gone now..

Inside the little building to the right is where all the amps should be, if there's amps in there that are labelled Western Electric or Northern Electric or anything with tubes in it. There worth a fair amount on Ebay this could be an untouched gold mine of old stereo equipment

There's a Drive-In in Winnipeg, MB (Canada) similar to this. It was closed down last year, unfortunately. Many fond memories, gone.
