I went to Salesian for 4 years. The third floor was a dormitory for the boys. The "brother" used the curtained area as his sleeping quarters.

That's George, not Gearge!

Before it became a Junior Seminary Gearge Carlin was a student at this school. I graduated from there in 1963. Sad to see it in such a state.
EXCELLENT LINK, JIM H. THANKS!

I taught in this room from 1965-68. About 75 of the students still keep in touch on the internet. It's spirit lives on !

Actually, the original owner of the Estate had the tower built so he could watch the trotters race at the track in Goshen.

Jim H, thanks for the link. Seems hard to believe that such a beautiful building could quickly fall apart as quickly as it did.

This was the roof where the tragedy occurred. It happened during the summer boys camp that was held there while the high school seminarians who attended the school went to their own camp in Ellenville NY. As you can see the parapet is very low; it's a mystery, but certainly could have been a terrible accident involving sleepwalking or just kids goofing off while the adults slept. I also arrived there in 1964 and never heard about it until years later when someone tried to link it to clergy abuse.

My German teacher in high school (early 80's) used to show us films that went with the record too. Always just a second or two out of synch as well.

I remember the films that had the audio on records. The nuns could never get it in sync with the video...and...sometimes the record skipped. I have very fond memories of those films. Don't remember a heck of what they were about, but it was fun watching them. LOL
