I was at a weekend retreat here in 1986. My brother graduated a few years before that. I remember this place vividly. All this decay now. Just imagining that very first cold Fall day or night when nobody was there to turn on the heat, after the last people had cleared out and abandoned the place. A few months later, the paint would start peeling, and the decay would begin. Sad, but poetic at the same time :-)

I was at a Salesian boarding school near Ramsey NJ in 1`955-56. Is this the place? It had horses, a lake for fishing and swimming, boating. Favorite was Father Joe. Any info, pix would be welcome. is this the place?

I'm the sister of the 9 yr old boy who died at the Salesian Camp in 1964. I googled Salesian camp & my heart dropped when I read about my brother. We believe he was murdered. The ever powerful Catholic church
covered everything up. Someone must have known something, but no one ever came forward.

Hello...I found Dominic Savio - seems he was a saint.

Does anyone know what building was in front of the school, closer to the road? It's gone now, except some bits of the stone foundation - an interesting ruin.
Also, who was Dominic Savio? There's a memorial to him on the same knoll as the water tower.
I like the photo, by the way. I have to get out there with my camera, too.

Hmm... maybe I should turn that around.

You got used to the radiators, especially during basketball (and there used to be a hinge structure on the ceiling, from which the goal would be lowered).
There was a space below the stage that was used to store costumes and props.
That tiny black square on the rear wall behind the curtain was one of the 4 "portholes" from the projectionist's booth.
