im only 15, live in the area this hospital is and have been it, it is very scary in there and dangerous. it smell in some places but most of the windows are smashed so it isnt to bad.
the reason y it hasnot been knocked down is that its the number 1 tourist atraction in wales.
and too dangerous to knock down.
i'm not sure of the legislation in the UK, but here in Australia drugs and poisons are classified using a drug schedule, which currently runs from S2 to S9. The S1 classification, which is now defunct, was for "substances which are of such extreme danger to life as to warrant their being supplied only by medical practitioners, nurse practitioners authorised...pharmacists, dentists, veterinary surgeons or persons licensed..."
(thanks wikipedia!)
S2 - Pharmacy medicine
S3 - Pharmicist-only medicine
S4 - Prescription-only medicine
S5 - Caution
S6 - Poison
S7 - Dangerous Poison
S8 - Controlled Drug
S9 - Prohibited Substance
PS - in the USA during prohibition on e could obtain an rx for whiskey, etc. from an MD. I am sure these were less than medicinal. You can find many for sale on E Bay
"poisons" are often used in operating equipment -ie X ray machines, pre-test drugs, etc, not just 'fun drugs'. Barium?? etc. and the like- ect. don't read so much into the use of the word, esp. in a foreign country. What is the Welsh word for poison?
Sorry, I never had much intrst ibthe foreign phots till I saw these. Do you suppose this to be some sort of horroble punishment room, or just a random broom closet or something? What would make you call it a "room" as oppesed to a closet? It's very frightening to sense someone in "there"...
Amazing. Patients were at one time threatened with ECT (without sedative or muscle relaxant) if they were being disruptive. Hopefully that doesnt happen these days!
I worked in this hospital for a few months in the early 1970s. It's a medicine cupboard on a ward. The word 'poison' is to keep patients from trying to open it.
In those days most wards were locked (acute admissions wards are still locked today) and there were 'side rooms' (padded cells, effectively) where patients who were uncontrollable were locked for the protection of other patients. This might be one of them. I'm not quite sure how far things have progressed by today, to be quite honest.
didnt have any problems with the dogs myself... me and a few mates went to the Asylum tonight and had a good look round. one of the most scary places to be i nthe dark
