I am delighted to hear that these gorgeous ruins have been designated a historical landmark! You just don't see amazing architecture like this anymore....especially in this country! More of these buildings need to be preserved for the sake of our heritage instead of falling to the wrecking ball in man's ever-incessant greed for land & financial gain. The past is priceless.

Interesting to see a structure 60+ years into it's natural decay process. Most buildings fall to the wrecking ball before it gets to this stage. Roof, floor, & walls are all gone courtesy of mother nature. Beautiful architecture & stonework.

Something very skull-like about this facade...

Fanbloodytastic shot. It almost doesn't seem real. More like a movie set but I know it is very real. Yeah those fences are a b***ch to climb especially if you are in a hurry because security is on your butt. Heh.

Theoretically you can get smallpox from the remains of someone who had smallpox. Anytime archaeologists conduct a dig where there are possible smallpox patient remains there are a ton of extra safety precautions taken, although I'm not sure if anyone has ever been infected this way.

Wow, GTA 4 got recreated this place perfectly, they even got the balcony supports and arched windows right! Motts, all your findings and photo's are brilliant!

I'm pretty sure they are old fire doors.

Stupid that people can get away with listing a building on a historic register -and all "historic preservation" means is keep people out with an ugly fence and let the place die.

Goodness. S'pose it is just a stairway to the afterlife by now...

I couldn't even tell this shot was inside! ...Are those...window shutters up there, or loose boards?

...might very well have been unbearable, seeing as it wasn't even 1930 yet.
