Alot of the time, they don't even stop at all. Security NEVER goes inside the buildings. Police do go in the buildings, but this is not cxommon. They aren't really supposed to go in at all, only the rookies with balls of steel go in and end up chasing you through an entire building. They don't go upstairs (especially with the menacing-looking hole in the stairs you see as you enter birdshit, lol), or past the building they entered through, or into the catacombs.
My whole family is from Philly, and I was born there. We now reside in Canton, a small town in NE PA. finally go the chance to go *past* Byberry this winter while visiting some relatives. I'd very much like to see the exterior of the buildings close up, which finally brings me to my question: Will security stop you if you're on the grounds looking around? Or do they only stop you when you're *inside* the buildings?
Why don't we all show up with paint , rollers, and brooms and clean up the morgue. It wouldn't stay that way for long, but it would be cool to see one room in old berry looking decent again.
The brain chunks are in wax to get them ready for placement in a microtome, a lab device that makes very thin cuts of tissue that then can be stained and mounted on microscope slides for examination. Guess the samples in the lab never made it that far.

This is a really late comment now, considering, but my ex (who has worked in the maintenance divisions of hospitals his entire adulthood) says that those tags are perhaps to denote 'assetts.' After an item is purchased, it's given one of these and the corresponding number helps to track depreciation/value. Or, if it proved to be something that wasn't of major importance, a simple inventory system for location purposes.
Of course, he could be just full of shit. =) But this explanation sounds less fantastical than most, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
