This is a really late comment now, considering, but my ex (who has worked in the maintenance divisions of hospitals his entire adulthood) says that those tags are perhaps to denote 'assetts.' After an item is purchased, it's given one of these and the corresponding number helps to track depreciation/value. Or, if it proved to be something that wasn't of major importance, a simple inventory system for location purposes.

Of course, he could be just full of shit. =) But this explanation sounds less fantastical than most, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Lynne, that post was incredible. Even if you've been someone who has needed mental health care previously, much of what you explained offers great insight. More than one perspective, certainly such a knowledgeable one, is greatly appreciated.
It looks like a river of tears running down the wall and in turn, casts a sort of underwater reflection to the floor. Plus all the colors are complimentary and make me almost hear the sea crashing outside. =)
Ethereal beauty, like the 'carnival' scene in Apocalypse Now. This is one of my favorites (thus far).
Having been hospitalized before and not having much in the way of family or loved ones, I'd be in the opposite camp that would want (if I had anything worthwhile to share) whatever I had left behind after death, available to the public. In my humble opinion, that's another important way that mental health issues become prominent and de-stigmatized is by putting them out there for all posterity. Similar to the thought provoking done by this site.

I realize that, obviously, not everyone would agree with this view, but surely I'm not completely alone.
LoudLove, I'm thinking it might have even been more frightening knowing what to expect. I mean, you'd be so grateful anytime you were allowed out and the fear and dread you'd face at the thought of returning would probably make your blood run much colder than when you had no clue, but just vague ideas. =(
I believe there was formerly some sort of heart stickers in the upper corners of the mirror.... for some reason, that strikes me as so very sad.
I love this one because it evokes a 70s type Mom 'n' Pop hotel. Just need to bring in the pay vibrating bed and some heavily influenced Spanish Flamenco pictures.
Actually, it feels more surreal with the paper plates in the frame. More demented, as if it were staged, yet you know that it wasn't so.... the randomness of it is all the more creepy. This picture icked me out more so than the previous one.
The stacked tables seem reminiscent of the dining room chairs in Poltergeist. And I wonder too if the room is perhaps still being used.
I would suggest that it was probably (maybe?) just "room 6," because the last two are the ones that seem to be tilted and the first centered, correctly, in the middle of the door.
