I was a student there in 68 and 69.The child who fell or was pushed off the roof was not a student but a summer camper.The case remains open and if you look at some links on other sites you'll see that there is still some interest in solving the mystery

Windows like that - which are wider on the inside than the outside - are quite typical of British architecture - not just a mental asylum thing. It's to do with the thickness and strength of the walls. The wider opening on the inside meant that you could have strong, thick walls yet still get maximum daylight in; if the window recess didn't widen out, the room would be a great deal darker.
You can see this kind of architecture in buildings dating from the middle ages (eg, in York, or Edinburgh).

i can clearly see something that looks like a face at the lower left corner of the window frame, and if i zoom in with 700% and brighten it up i also see something left of the 2nd pole, but for this one it needs realy much fantasy to be turned into something like a figure.
