This Has to be my favorite photo and you know it does make you think that people use to live and work at places like this. It does give it a Human element to it.

i work for the town of haverstraw and have been into everybuilding up there and the tunnels. the tunnels you can enter in the power house or some buildings including marked manholes or a doubleblast door located across from loadingdock in rear of powerhouse in woods.in the past i have entered the tunnels in woods in haverstraw and exited in stonypoint if anyone does explore bring more than one light and take note of your course because the tunnels branch off and there are many them!

Yes, a lot of facilities used these half-walls or "pony walls" to separate rooms so each person had some space, although obviously not a lot of privacy. Building code won't allow for these any more though, and if you have them you'll be fined.

I worked there for years. During outside recreation, one CO w/shotgun would be posted inside this "tower." After rec was over, the shotgun shells would be dropped from the hole in the floor to the yard below and taken to the safe in the main rotunda.
