I would think the object in the back is a weight pan to put counterweights in so one could determine the weight of the object on the scale. The pan would be hooked on the eye at the back of the scale.

Definitly a projector, but I would say it's probably 70mm. perhaps 35mm but the reel cans look a little big for 35mm.

Breatttaking. Understandable that such a thing could have sparked my interest in urban exploration some 25 years ago. Having the oportunity to explore without worry of being caught, I spent many hours in awe of the building in the link below with a similar design railing which I had the honor of helping in it's preservation.

This is similar to a starcase i helped enovate in the Parke Davis Building in Detroit, but this staircase is breathtaking. Awesome shot Motts!
