I can't take my eyes off this entire website. I have never seen more moving photographs ANYWHERE. To say you have a gift for preserving the different moods of history is an understatement. I feel you are honoring all those who actually had to call these places home and what they must have gone through at the time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My exhusband's cousin lived in Centralia until about 10 yrs ago-their house was finally bought by the government to get them out of the town-there are still a few holdouts though. I personally wouldn't want a fire burning under my house.

i used to work at cherry knowle,we staff took it upon ourselves to visit whilst we were on nights,3 of us dodged the security guy and climbed through the window,4am,was this scary or what,we were bricking it.saw lots of stuff,such as old paper work,beautiful broken tiles,no ghosts though,doh.frightening but exciting.ran back to ward after around an hour,how lucky were we.

Just speculating but this may have been a surplus purchase after war. Or they were given to Studebaker by the military to meet GOV Regs. during the war.
