I find it quite admirable that you explore these places that interest you while making efforts for minimal disturbance of the sites and to discourage theft and vandalism.
Also, the bits of history you've included are quite interesting. Even though your photos are interesting in themselves, I find the history of the places adds alot overall.

The state hospital proper was closed in 1991, however these buildings in the back were used by the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in the early 2000s.

there was one purpose and one purpose only for showers like this- to shower people. Old school places like this were always very understaffed and people with mental illness or physical or mental disabilities were treated as objects rather than people they do not use communal showers like these in institutions here anymore ( aus) and thankfully they don't hang people with challenging behaviours in gunney sacks on the walls either- we've come a long way baby!

I use to DJ at the Pines on weekends for all the "City People" to party in the catskills. Also did some spinnin at the Chalet in the 80's. Great memories.....to bad they had to end... I did meet lots of beautiful tho...:)
