The facility where I work has a cemetary. In fact, they just buried a resident there in the last couple of years. Had to get special approval though, because there hasn't been a burial there since like the 1930's. One of our staff did go through and "plot" the cemetary and take notations on names/graves/locations because we do sometimes get relatives looking.

When I was hospitalized when I was 16 and put in the Child/Adolescent ward, the younger patients in the hospital were allowed to have one stuffed animal as a comfort item, but It had to be inspected and approved of by the head nurse, to make sure it didn't have anything they could use to hurt themselves. But as for us teenage psych. patients, we weren't even allowed to wear shoes, and, for us female patients, wear "hazardous undergarments" (meaning bras with under wires that we could "get creative" with and use to cut ourselves, mine of which they confiscated the day I came in).

Looks really familiar. I always found it sad when those who were confined, usually when they didn't have a choice, were forced to simply watch their world go by within a confined space. I'm in no way comparing those confined to state penitentiarys to those who were locked away in mental hospitals, but you do get a sense of what that must have been like...To be locked away for twenty three hours away without access to the outside world. Wow, boggles the mind.
