It's almost a little scary to think about the reason why someone would pile up the chairs like that...they even look like they're from different rooms.
Radical Ed - your commentary throughout has been like a cool cloth on a hot day. Refreshng, soothing and always welcome. With your native expertise and Mott's photography it's been a little slice of The Berry.
My friends and I used to explore the Byberry buildings many times in the late 70s. The only things we saw there were lots of broken glass, crumpled walls and ceilings along with a ton of dangerous asbestos.
someone was shootin up somethin. havent you guys ever done drugs?! geez...the reason all those caps are there are because thats what you mix the coke/dope in to put it in the syringe.
I once had to cut myself off from Rotten.com because I could not handle the emotional overload it caused me subconsiously. I had a blast for days looking further into each website, following link, after link, after link. I also saw ALOT of cool, old photos dating back to 1800's! At the time I thought it was very interesting to look at, still do, but after a couple days, my family started wondering why I was acting differently. I became VERY emotionally sensitive about EVERYTHING and had horrible, sad dreams, woke up crying and continued to cry about everything all day long. Finally, I came clean with my husband and close friends and started to show them what I had been viewing when I was home alone. I was showing them horrible, MORBID shit!!! No wonder why I became so disturbed emotionally! That's when I took it apon myself so that family didn't have to, to cut myself off from viewing the disturbing photos available for anyone to see.
After all that, I am sad to admit that I am a wuss deep down in my subconcious, and again have to cut myself off from these horrible, yet very touching stories and videos I have been sucked into for hours now on this website. Call me a wuss if you must, but I've gotta do what I gotta do!
It's been a breathtaking visit at Pennhurst this morning and my heart goes out to all the residents that spent year after year in that horrible place!
It's been real!
Ghost Hunters TAPS did 2 investigations there. Yup, there is still power. I know you weren't there at night Motts, but did you happen to experience anything paranormal?
I live in Great River and in 1997 my mom and I were driving by after we dropped my sister at Drivers Ed at NYIT and I saw a nurse in a window and I told my mom and she told that the place was closed down and abandoned. I swear to this day I really saw a nurse there and it wasn't my 14 year old mind playing tricks on me.
Does anyone else find it totally demented that these poor people were being medicated 4 times a day? A little excessive?! Probably why they needed to be there in the first place. Overmedication is never a good thing!
The building is truely a magical piece of architecture. I actually saw the building from a driving range in Middleton a few days ago and i was stunned to see the Kirkbride. Only the new condos don't look at all as fascinating as the original building. I wish that the building was kept as a national landmark or museum.
