I can't believe they just let buildings and equipment like this just go to waste. How many new buildings were built that could've filled these places instead?

I'd expect this kind of shot to come out some Cold War catacomb, not a train station.

I came across an article called "Waltham demolition job closer to reality," and read that they've been eager to tear this place down for a long time, it's just been on the backburner over other projects. So abandoned enthusuasts, get your cameras and get this place before it finally comes down this year.

Since coming across this site, I've been doing some research on several of the abandoned buildings listed here, and out of all of them, I find this one the most unique. I read the story "To Hell and Back", and it made my heart sink. How could anybody be taken away from the tender love of their parents, and pt in a place like this. Just makes me angry that it took the DMH to realize that these kids benefit from community-based programs. To former residents: what was the genereal age range of the kids here?

I live in Preston and have only read and heard about this place. This town is NOT handling the property correctly in my opinion. Some of the buildings, architecture and interiors should be preserved and shared for people who find photograpy and psychaitric history interesting. I am highly educated in the medical field and in psychology and am frankly, embarrassed by the handling of this property by the town selectmen. This property- I get it- is contaminated and people should not just be allowed to roam free but if they would let people in to photograph the buildings and build some press & interest around the property then maybe they could sell it. These are historic buildings and should not be torn down.
