I thought that alters/chapels were "decommissioned" when they went out of use, so that they couldn't be desacrated.

I started working in this building back in 1985,this was my first real job after graduating High School I and still work for the state now, some 25 years later. These were used for all of the purposes mentioned above. Yes the staff that I had the pleasure to work with back then were awesome and the food was of exceptional quality. I feel that it is a shame what has been allowed to happen to the buildings and the property as a whole. Some of the buildings as well as the bandstand area were used as sets for the movie " The Surrogates " starring Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. the exterior of the kitchen building was made to look like an abandoned elementary school. In the movie,they were part of the dread community. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to take pictures of the buildings as they appeared in the movie and got to actually talk to Bruce Willis as well. I agree with Jo Q & nanadoone totally... it wasn't a prison setting, and you had to work there to "get it".

The only Waverly Hills I know of is the former TB sanitarium in KY. The St Louis Psych Rehab center has the main part of the Kirkbride remaining and has active facilities in the area.

What's so disturbing about the common occurrence of excess heat energy briefly remaining on a chair seat? It's just a form of energy, not physical "matter".

Remember Memorial Day weekend all those weekends where mondays were legal holidays made the weekends that much longer and sundays always felt like another saturday night.

I remember Mike's Girlfriend her name was Barbara she was beauitful she was a garment rep for John Myers of Norwich Clothing The actress who portrays Elliiot's Wife on Law and Order SUV is an identical look alike to Mike S's lady.

Lemme tell ya, you've got some extra gut fortification for going to THESE places where systematic abuse and mass murder were actually plotted. (and govt. sanctioned too, as opposed to forgetting/under-funding/under-staffing) Wow!!

I can't imagine being a patient in any of these places?
As far as those boxes of records are concerned, try getting any information on a person--you can't you have to go through the courts.
Unless, you run into a situation like this.

The bathrooms in my nightmares have no stalls or broken seats. Weird that I've never seen bathrooms like this in real life until I came upon this site but the do exist. Freaky!
