The infamous pool! It's so amazing when there are pool areas inside of old asylums. Great shot!

Ah, the beautiful countryside! It made sense to put these asylums in quiet, country settings, away from the city. The peaceful atmosphere was thought to be conducive to healing. Everyone can benefit from the effects of nature. It's too bad that sometimes the inside of the buildings did not reflect the outside grounds.

This must have been a nice chapel to meditate in. Beautiful window!

I remember the hall as a child in the 60s. My dad was a nurse at cherry and there was a xmas party for the staff children - food, santa, film, presents that sort of thing!

They also used to have a firework party on Nov 5th

went there a few days ago with a friend of mine. We got into one building but it was really trashed inside. The sun was going down and we didn't get to see much. I did see a few old patient charts with pictures on them, which were really neat. I also found some old boxes of magazines and clothing. It's like the place that time forgot. There was a raccoon hanging out of one of the third floor windows giving us dirty looks and that was the scariest thing that took place. Also it looks like people party/squat there. I was afraid of running into a crack head or a homeless person but I def have the itch to go back again!

The Clock Tower looks so alone by itself. It's a shame they demolished the two wings-they were quite intricate.
