Dandelions in the lobby - KILLER! New favorite!

I live in Exeter or Escoheag to be exact. We are closer to Norwich, CT than this part of Exeter, which is very close to North Kingstown, RI. In addition to Job Corp, which is run out of one of the most recent of buildings there is the Phoenix House which sits at the back of the complex. As was mentioned, the place is 'wicked' trashed. Job Corp and Phoenix House (detox center) doesn't see much of the gentrified rural population or swampahs that are common in Exeter. Most 'residents' come from the heavily alien populous inter-scummulated cities in and around Providence. Destruction is their game, trashing is their aim. The place is disgusting. THAT is why it is a pleasure to see the other sites photographed here, so little destruction. The Veterans Cemetery sits adjacent to this site and is beautiful as is almost all of South County.

The Ladd School left ALL of it's records behind and the school has terrific vandalism - became a real news story early in the new milenium and the state had to send someone out to destroy the evidence - sigh

Times aren't like they used to be. This would, like a lot of posters here, remain a distinct memory for me had I got the chance to see it. Everything was old school and not computerized. Kids today, at least the ones I'm around (NOT my kid!) don't like anything unless it's lasers, computers, mechanical, etc... or the oft compared to six flags, which is just a huge faceless corporate cookie cutter theme park. Maybe bigger, faster, etc... but this place, even abandoned, and perhaps moreso because of that- was intended to be a place of enchantment and wonder.

FAVORITE (so far) Candidate for best of show.
