Found a copy of the same picture above at this link, along with a longer version of the quotation... when I searched the quotation it comes up with several references to Anton Chekhov, but I cannot find any exact version of the quote other than above.

Here is a brief history of Ancilla Domini Academy. In 1952, it opened as a private Catholic girls boarding and day school, conducted by the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As the demographics of Philadelphia changed, lower Germantown became a high-crime area and definitely an unsafe neighborhood for a girls' school. At the same time, a lack of vocations to the religious life meant fewer nuns teaching, etc, and a decision was made to close the school rather than raise tuition costs in keeping with ever-increasing lay teacher's salaries. In its final year, the last graduating class of seniors attended
LaSalle College High School at 8605 Cheltenham Avenue, Wyndmoore, as the property on Church Lane in Germantown was sold to Manna Bible College, an African American institute of higher studies.

If one of the functions of art is to stir controversy, you've certainly done that with this piece! That's what I love about the shots you get. You visit a seemingly impersonal environment and capture some VERY personal subject matter. Not sure why this fellow was imprisoned or what this "release" date signifies, but as none of us are privy to his story, or even his identity, we have no basis for judgment. Maybe he was a heartless criminal who deserved every painstaking moment he spent here and more, or maybe he was a victim of circumstance - in the wrong place at the wrong time - and imprisoned for a crime he never committed. We will likely never know the truth, but this is a window into the very grave and personal experience of another human being. Regardless of his position, I hope he's a better man for it.

Yeah, I taught BBP courses for years at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The first thing I learned was OSHA has no sense of humor. The second thing I learned was OHSA is not impressed that they are inspecting red bags at KSC. LOL. =8-O
