The picture reminds me of a scene from "Red Dragon" - where Will Graham visits Hannibal Lecter. He's taking a break outside (or was he already leaving?) and the annoying reporter Freddy Lounds takes a photo.

This reminds me of Army Basic Training in Fort Leonard-wood MO...the halls in the barracks looked exactly like this..at least the company I was in did..

My first thought was mold. My second as asbestos.

JUST KIDDING!! Hey I remember 1979 pretty well lol. I was 8 years old, and life was good in the 2nd Grade. :)

I remember my mom had bought me a "re-built" computer in the 80's sometime, and the person who had "re-built" it hadn't erased everything that was on it from the previous person...how interesting THAT was. Nothing dirty, just old junk files that I didn't understand since I was just a child at the time. :) That stupid thing never did work well, now that I think about it...

This hotel sure does seem to have a past, and an interesting one at that! I would have loved to see this place when it was filled with the hustle and bustle of patrons coming and going, on vacation or on business...

THAT would have been really priceless, but these photos sure do give you a sense of that Other Time, don't they?

Interesting... It sure LOOKS like a sewing machine, but I have an ancient Singer sewer that has a wheel identical to that one, except the wheel is mounted on the sewing machine itself, sitting on top of the surface of the table. Plus the horizontal braces around the sides of the legs would seriously interfere with sitting properly at this table...just a thought :)

I stumbled on this site a couple days ago and I have been reading all these comments about this beloved soap dispenser and I'm glad I finally made it to the picture that started it all!!

i had to shi uhh find a restroom in new orleans the day after mardi gras was over. Finally went into a BK thinking that it would have a relatively clean bathroom..oh HELL NO... I would DEFINITELY choose this one over any of the ones from bourbon st.
