Man I thought that room looked familiar! I have basically the same shot, only theres a picture of a fruit stand sitting on the window there. BTW thats not Rathen (I take it that name was used for privacy reasons). Quality work motts!

This is a beautiful mansion, what a shame it was abandoned and not fixed up. It's still beautiful after all these years. Makes you think about how it was in it's day and what went on in there when someone lived there. The imagination runs wild. Great find, great shot.

The floor tiles are actually still beautiful. You can imagine how better they looked when they were new. People pay a lot of money for tiles like that now. Too bad no one thought of recycling before they closed.

FlaGator and JackieB: Nope. They didn't raze it. I live about half an hour away from this place and they turned it into an arts facility in all of the cell blocks.

That blue and wood chair looks like some of the ones we had in the lounge area of my dorm floor my first year of college.

Used to hike up here all the time when I attended college at STAC. Still love to visit whenever I'm in Rockland County. Last visit, when those early winter storms went through in October/November 2011, the marked trails were hard to follow with all the downed trees. Got lost in the woods on the way back, and baashed the shit out of my shin on some rebar sticking out of the concrete wall. Good times!
