The cafeteria was named for my grandfather, Edwin L Olander, who, as a Republican state representative during the Great Depression secured funding to build this facility on the Northampton State Hospital campus. Those were different times, when Republicans supported the working classes. He was well liked by citizens of both parties for the efforts he made to keep people working through hard times. His son was my father, Edwin L Olander Jr., the Amherst College grad, Marine Corps pilot and former mayor of Northampton. When I was born the city clerk discovered that my father's birth certificate was not filled out as a "Junior" so I became "Jr" even though Im the third Edwin L Olander!!

Oh - i like! The wires criss-crossing look so fragile, and the branches right, too, and the top is so small - and then those little wispy clouds. And what is that in the branches? A light? Very nice, Mr. Motts!

Luckily I got to see this very rainbow for myself!
The floors have pretty much given way now but as soon as I saw it I immediately thought of you Motts! I couldn't stop smiling afterwards, seeing it in person is so different to looking at pictures!

I went to Harperbury last week and the week before. This pool has changed so much, only the base of the machinery remains and all the windows have been boarded up so you need a torch just to see anything. It's such a shame.

Ancient. Timeless. Or caught in time! Fantastic! The sky, that shaded tree with fallen branches, and the building looking like it is sinking..omg...it is moving me: The World just goes on and on, no matter what we do, think or argue about. That was my thought, and it was nice. Thank you!
