i went and say the ladd center today. the buildings were at one point in time well constructed, and its a shame what has happened there.

My grandmother worked there as a nurse before going on to work at High Royds in Menston. She retired in 1955.
When I was a boy in Ryhope in the 70's a mates dad used work there and he used to let us in and showed us amongst other things the morgue, fridges and slab.
Your pictures bring back some memories.

That smiling sloth is the safety outlet.. When i grew up, in the fifties, there were no mixed faucets, and we filled the sink to wash hands. Ahhh memories. Nice!

Ahh love this gallery, such fine pictures. Get a feeling it has an old tall kind respected caretaker with a walking-stick and quite a big dog, a German Shepard, may be. It looks like it is swept, here and there, and the windows are unbroken, and there is no grafitti.........hmmmmm

I saw some photos of the buildings being torn down in 2011. I'm not sure what is left. Since they were a tightly connected complex I'd assume they leveled everything.
