Pat, thanks for the update on her & that a time we've all dreaded has arrived now. Sad to see her go, she has stood proudly for a long time.
So initial demolition on the campus has begun, just not on Halcyon yet.
The debris is supposed to go to Ohio.
so Felicity, I'm sure you are more accurate in your assessment. I was just sort of guesstimating, seeing how much longer all of this has gone on past time beyond what anyone has hazarded to guess. And that house The Pines I suppose didn't 'disappear', just that I noticed one year it had been there, and the next gone. there was alot of rerouting of the various campus roads in the wake of the removal of the Pre-school from Exmoore hill down to the Monument. Somewhere in that time it evidently was demolished. Curious why, it was a very old colonial that nonetheless had been fairly well upkept. The whole Bennett parcel is this strange time capsule in many ways. But modern life cracked open the seal a long time ago here.

Worked security there just after it closed. THE PLACE IS HAUNTED. I used to hear screaming at night ... doors slamming...gurneys being moved through hallways etc etc. Of course when we checked there was always nothing there. I lasted 1 month on that job and left scared as hell.

I was in there the year it closed down, in 2003. It was as bad as you can imagine while in operation. Fortunately I was only there for six months.
Incredible pictures. I belong to a group of people who are into a Victorian age group called Steampunk. This power station is pure steampunk. I've seen other pictures and this one is outstanding. So share the URL it is.

This is absolutely stunning work...so glad I stumbled on to this site when researching Hart Island, although it's many years since these were uploaded.
What an amazing place, I haven't the words to describe how it makes me feel...
Thank you
