Pennhurst was a more or less "local" state school for young people in PA, I would guess over a thousand patients lived there at any one time.. a lot less than 15,000. More patients = more deaths.

Pennhurst had a two drawer morgue by the way, the top door was used to access the refrigeration equipment, much like this freezer.

i remmeber this when my mom took me there....she used to work at pennhurst and she said this balcony is where a pateint jumped offf the balcony and killed herself while trying to escape.

i go to pennhurst all the time...veyr interesting...yet sad. me and my friends almost got caught by the cops back there but we hid in on of the buildings jus tin time. jus tmake sure your careful! cus there is a navy base back there and they will shoot on guard..there are even signs.
