Just to settle the debate, the lamp, if it IS a Henningsen (and not a knock-off), is the ARTICHOKE design, is about 33" in diameter, and is of very complex design...not something you could hack out with a pair of pliers & screwdriver. Also, they're selling at auction for around $1500-2500. Not worth it, IMO, for all the work and illegality...

The preceeding reasons are why I'd guess the 40s or early 50s. Note the lack of any plastic parts or decor. Plastic was developed during WWII.
