I must admit that when I saw the first picture in this batch,I thought it was a medieval themed amusement park:-)Before you laugh I must say that I'm not American,so I had not heard of this place before.
So the Enchanted Forest feel is quite understandable to me:-)
Well,they sure wasn't people of small gestures,but I kind of think that's a cool approach.

It's a pretty mural..gives a sense of relief from all the gloominess inside the institution.Or maybe it was just painful to see it every day for someone locked into a mental insitution like this one.
It never ceases to amaze me how many places like this one there are! It's a good thing someone documents them before they are torn down or decay. It's a significant piece of modern history.
Looks like someone is peering down from the ceiling,ghost hunters would love this.
Anna's probably right,it might be especially made for patients with convulsions.
I wonder why things were just left like this...I mean,it's not like it was abandoned in a hurry,like Pompei or something.
Yea,makes you wonder who these people were,if they had some kind of joy in their lives despite the misery in these hospitals.I hope they had.

Sure looks like this door has a mean smile on its face...
this is one of the saddest pictures I've seen here...the bars are no more,no less than prison bars..:(
