I had a friend once that had a partial upper plate and if he was going through a bank or McDonald's drive through, he would spin the plate around so it was in front which would give him a very "unique" smile. The faces of the people at the drive thru window always cracked me up. I guess my friends are a little demented!! HA!
Maybe next time then. There definitely are and some are pretty secluded. I've driven around just for the heck of it and then all of a sudden this big abondoned complex is right there in front of me. Also, the Catskills are not far as you probably know and there is a TON of history there as well as abondoned stuff! And thank you for responding and talking to me, I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I feel really honored now! I very much admire your work and wish I could have seen what you have seen. One more quick thought. My father was a photographer and when he died I inherited all his photographs and negatives, some are on glass or metal plates. He was known for taking shots of the city so I have boxes of Albany photos from the early days until about 1990. He took a lot of when they were tearing down sections of the city to build something like the "South Mall" as it was called then. Or if there was a fire, he was usually there photgraphing it. Anyway, I had planned to put all this on a website called OldAlbany but I just haven't had time yet. If you have any interest in looking at these to see what was where, let me know. I would be glad to share them with you.
Furthermore Mr. Motts if you ever get to upstate New York, specifically the Albany-Schenectady-Troy area drop me an email if you want a tour of some abondoned factories and other buildings. There are lots of them. Cohoes I believe at one time was the glove manufacturing center but they are all abondoned now. There is an old toilet paper factory in Albany, that building is HUGE and the last time I went by I noticed some grafitti so I'm sure it's a hangout now, especially since it's in kind of a derelict area where the other businesses that are left there all close at 5 o'clock and everyone splits. Amsterdam, Broadalbin and Wells also have a lot. I hope I'm not giving too much info here but I just wanted to let you know that me and my convertible are at your disposal.
Thank you sir for the information, after I left this comment I did recall that RSS service. I think maybe I will just continue to stop by every day and look for a new gallery. If there isn't one, I look over the old ones. I've seen them two or three times each and every time I do, I see something I didn't see before. I truly admire you and your talent.
I agree Mr. Motts, the music and sound effects do get a little annoying after awhile and if you see enough episodes they kind of all run in together, BUT, they have gone to certain abandoned towns, one in Italy, and that famous island city (I forget the name), which was pretty neat. If you can get past the music and redundancy the show has some interest. Not as much as Opacity I must say!! This is still NUMBER ONE as far as I'm concerned!!
WHAT? No Turquoise? Mr. Motts, THANK YOIU for making my dreary day with a fantastic new gallery. Have you thought of some kind of sign up service where we could give out email and you can send a note when you have a new gallery? I usually stop by every day and hope but sometimes I just don't get time. Thank you, I really admire your work and your life.
