Great work as always and the round rooms help to prevent injuries from some of the more violant outbursts. There would be no corners to slam into that would be a sharper
area for injury

my mother, who is a nurse, drove me through pennhurst's campus today. most of it has been torn down or is in use. but the abandones buildings that are left are elegant and mysterious. thanks again for the photos and stories.

in that case, we are very lucky to have an abandoned institution in such an artistic condition. im from around philly, so as soon as i get my liscense[2 years] i plan to check this place out. i find it more appealing than byberry, due to the fact that the vandalism isnt quite as appaling and image- ruining. thanks for the site! keep up the great work!

Motts, are these pictures of the state school as-is, or did you move things around to get this look? either way i absoloutly adore these photos and plan to eventually decorate with these prints. They are beauty in the simplist form.

this room was used for electric shock therapy..i just got back from visiting pennhurst. it's so creepy at night. we got caught by a cop but he let us go. pennhurst wasn't just a place for severely retarded people, these people were tested on..acid in the 60s and 70s, various drugs, electric chairs...it was shut down because things were leaking out people were gradually finding out all the shit and torture the patients endured..my grandfather headed the committee to shut it down. creepy shit

I love your pics! I grew up in GlennDale and me and my friends spent many late nights "going through GlennDale hospital" scared out of our minds, we were all over that place--this was in 1985-1987. I remember someone smashed a jar of jelly in that place and it looked like blood! Then we heard the police were using it for training and we never went back.
