Gosh, I miss Rocky Point SO MUCH! I spent many, many summer days there in the 70s and it didn't get better than that! You got the yarn wrist bracelet fastened with a metal clip and it was awesome to show it off throughout the park because that meant you were one of the lucky ones to ride all day for one price (at the time it was like $3.50!!!) Many of my favorite rides were like 5 and 6 tickets, which was ALOT back then! Since finding this site, I've become completely obsessed with Rocky Point all over again. I just saw the Rocky Point movie, "You Must Be This Tall" and I'll tell you, it brought me right back onto that midway. A must-see for anyone who basically grew up at Rocky Point! I'm on a mission to find more photos and even collectibles if they're around, although funny...everyone who was lucky enough to get a piece of the park before it was demolished I'm sure would NEVER put that stuff on eBay! These abandoned photographs bring tears to my eyes. I think I'll drive down there tomorrow and scope it out. I'd actually like to plan one day to get in there...just to be there again.
Yeah, I live a few towns over and it's definitely still there. But there was a fire that took out a good chunk of one of the wings. =[
And yes, it is a BIG favorite for Hanson cops to check out, so be careful!
i used to live right by it i would walk by with my freinds and be so freaked out now that im older i wish it was still around so i could go in and see it for myself, youre pix are amazing
Controlled drugs are the ones that have to locked up/ kept out of the way like methadone and morphine etc or at least they are in pharmacies, in case anyone wanted to know. I'll just go back to lurking now. Great pictures by the way :)
i think i saw this on the show, The Most Scariest Places on Earth... a guy who went in there with three other girls got on one of those metal bed things and the three girls pushed him in and shut the door...he was freaking out he said everytime he breathed it was cold and he couldnt get that feeling out of him and he just wanted to leave. I think its so cool :) i would love to visit one of these hospitals or schools!
Hm. That kind of reminds me of Chestnut Lodge in Maryland. I dont know why. It might just be the white windows and brick building. But thats the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
