That is just detail you never see in newer buildings. Such a shame.

1st floor were the Science class-rooms and band room. In mid-80's Bro. Jim Mara had us all raise small pets (snakes, Guinea Pigs, etc). There was a really old priest named Fr. Moskal (Earth Science) who would pour Mercury (highly toxic) out of a bottle and have us hold it in our hands. To demonstrate a circuit he had us all join hands with one person holding the gas valve on a lab table. He would then stick his own finger in an electrical outlet.

Back behind the stage there used to be a 35MM Projection room. I remember showing "Burnt Offerings" which scared the crap out of everyone. But we all got a laugh out of the butler from same movie addressing the younger son as, "Master Bates".

I think that the class of '81 was probably the last to use 3rd floor as a dormitory. Class of '80 spent about 6 months on the 3rd floor. After that, enrollment was such that everyone fit in the 2nd floor roomettes (4 persons to a room).

I spent many a work period sweeping and waxing those stairs. From 3rd floor all the way down to basement.

I lived in last room on right in 1979. Really sad to see how such an amazing campus so quickly became ruins.

The property really is as beautiful as a lot of people think. However, many of the buildings are extremely unsafe. [Information edited out per site policy - Admin.]

Were the walls making up that hall original? It almost looks like they were added to split a larger room. Great shot. The darkenss of the floor and window trim almost makes it look fire damaged.
