Thanks for the links Jude. I oculdn't read it all. Too evocative. to me this is still how people are and though I am more fortunate than most like Gennie I still find that most of the authority figures I am required to deal with are just as abusive and dismissive today as they were to her during her life and me as a boy and through my whole life.

That is the door frame. It is what they used before they came up with stamped sheet metal framing that mimics 2x lumber sizes.

I imagine memory foam may reduce the incidence of sores because it diffuses the weight distribution.

I would think it induced claustrophobic feelings. It reminds me of the powerlessness of being abused and I confess to thinking of suffocation under the weight of a lot of people.

Mints, As a former shipyard welder they both are too far gone. Maybe some parts of them can be salvaged but your money would be better spent on building new. I've had to work on polishing some real turds and none of them were this far gone.
