Off the Radar

Getting inside this old hospital required some early morning sneaking around to avoid both the security guard and the employees working at the nursing home next door. We stepped into a silent world of crumbling paint peeling off in giant sheets, lit by the dawn sunlight streaming into the dusty glass window panes. I was happy to find a very natural state of decay inside; there didn't seem to be much evidence of tagging or scrapping. Even finding photos of the place by other explorers was quite rare; perhaps not being a state institution kept it off most people's radar.

Although the hulking structure appeared empty from the upper floors, we found a fair amount of vintage hospital equipment in the darkened basements, including a variety of restraints. It was unclear if these items were vestiges of the mental hospital or the nursing home (or both). Our discoveries culminated in something I will probably never see again in my life - a pink elephant in a morgue.
