King Shan Yu that looks like Forsythia which blooms with yellow flowers in early spring and then leaves out in a dark green for the summer.

The events described in this blog took place in this hospital and some of the buildings out back that are now gone.

Robert, It is not that it is not valued it is that the value(cost) of doing it is more than the projects that would profit from it are worth to the people paying for them.

I get tired of seeing this. I am comforted sort of by the knowledge that all of human history everything we have built ends this way. Sadly it is the nice looking places like this that usually go first.

Why? Were you there or just interested in a sad story?

I was told that Geraldo Rivera did a story about this hospital in the 70's. Can anyone confirm that?
I could have been about any of the three entities using the property at the time; the hospital which was the County Geriatric Center at the time, or the County Children's Shelter or a ward which I think was on the 4th floor of one wing, for disabled children who parents could not care for at home.
I'm hoping someone remembers the story and details from it because Geraldo's Fox news website email gets no response.

It occurs to me just now as I revisit this page that my "gurney" had those movable side bars that prevent falling out which I think means it was a different kind of gurney from this one.

Joseph Pimentel, I was also put in a bad place when very young. You can see my posts about it in the Isolation Hospital gallery on this site.

It sounds to me like you are having a memory try to come out. It would not be weird of unusual for your mind to hide this from you .Could be he sexually abused you knowing you;d be gone soon.
There is also something else that gives a person the feeling of having an unwanted companion, that is DID. Look it up it is one of the effects that can result form childhood abuse.
I wouldn't worry about it as if it is an issue for you it will make itself known without you doing anything.
I'm betting my money on suppressed memory of this orderly sexually abusing you.

BTW I believe you. This particular forum is full of fellow travelers, you can feel safe with them. We're all in this together.

I theorize it may be a "safe room". In an Institution that needs to lock up the customers there is probably a security issue and if there is a riot the staff would need a place of safety.
Another theory is that when they bought the lock two sided dead bolts were all that was available to get the job done.

Iceberg, Many old government and hospital buildings were built in a very formal style with entrances like this.
It's weird but this building reminds me of the Shelter building I was in at the Isolation Hospital. I think it was not as grand or tall as this. Just simple brick. regular size windows.
