I worked at Dever for 5 summers and never saw these tunnels

With a 90 degree angle some patients can shimee up the wall. The wider angle prevents patients from climbing the walls.

there was an old abandoned drive in close to my house that was closed for years, but they reopened it in july.

Why have stairs when there is an elevator rite there? Who designed this place?

Why did they use brick walls if they had steel supports?

How is the roof still standing if the brick columns are... well... broken?

This building reminds me of a hotel.

to bad most of danvers state is orn down except the water tower and the kirkbride building they are making condos up there....they should have just lewft it alone

i am a 29 yr old rhode islander and i was look ing back at all the good memories i had there it is a shame that i would never get to take my own kids there. sure there is six flags but nothing beat a day of rides and then eatting at the chowder house on a cool fall day damn thoses back taxes

Just to clear a few things up. My step-uncle is the "farmer" who sold the property for 2 million,not 35 million. Also I worked at Dixmont when I was 14. Granted, I'm sure there was some funky stuff that went on years ago but when I was there it was just a hospital that housed lunitics. Cool place to work though as first job

The "new" Worcester state hospital is to the left of photos of the clocktower. If you've ever driven around the campus- it's the building attached to the "neuro diagnostic" building. They house quite a few pt's- one floor dedicated to housing inmates that are being evaluated for psychiatric disorders/problems. It is not as large as others may think- a few floors are left unused. UMASS also operates an acute psych unit on the 8th floor.
