Considering what I've read about this place, it seems security was a bit on the underused side. Yikes.

I would love to hold up a spray can and tell one of these graffiti "artists" to "Open wide!" Dumb asses.

Regarding the short bio on the main page - I can totally see people on the rooftops shooting flares at the police, etc. Only in Philly. The few times I dared to venture into the city the place looked like a bombed out war zone.

I think water damage happens alot to these time capsules. Remember the old car that was buried in one? Everyone thought it would be mint when they brought it up, and of course it was a complete disaster.

You can just as easily roll the table out, put your camera on it and turn the timer on. Of course it helps if you're not standing in the way when you roll the tray back in. LOL

It also looks like a set of smudged handprints on the right wall (and the left) as well as a butt print in the middle. So obviously someone has tried it. LOL

I agree, Shawn. Seeing these galleries kind of ticks me off, in the sense of all that excessive government waste. There are clinics that work in underdeveloped nations that would LOVE to have this unused, outdated equipment donated for their work. What the heck.

Yes, and everyone wants 'free healthcare.' The state-run mental health system should tell you something about how government-run healthcare is going to work. More hospital closures, probably doctor and drug shortages, and they'll be going back to more lockdown procedures instead of meds to placate violent patients. I bet these old abandoned places will be up and running then in order to house the influx of patients. Sheesh.

"This one tells a story. The beauty of childhood innocence growing into teenage nonsense."

Wow. I couldn't agree more.

Unfortunately a place like this can't survive anymore, because kids can't seem to enjoy anything that isn't battery operated, play music, light up or essentially do all the playing for you. As a parent, I try to stay awake from toys like that as much as possible, so I bet my kids would have loved a place like this.

Definitely a wall paper!

This reminds me of when I made my husband pull over and stop for me to take pics of a fair that was in a town we were driving through. People probably thought I was nuts. LOL

Believe it or not, some people in Germany do speak English. LOL And my guess is "put the fun in funeral" doesn't exactly translate. LOL

It's sad that vandals come through there today like nothing ever happened. You wonder if they even know about the suffering that went on there.

Wondering if you can see any signs of the old work tunnels...I think they were sealed off during the War. All those poor people and the suffering they went through is unimaginable.

are those railroad tracks towards the bottom of the photo?

Wow...I can't believe you've been here. And to think: Werner von Braun worked here for Hitler and then went on to found our very own NASA.

"Actually, that's a Speakman showerhead, quite a good showerhead. Stem-mounted Speakman showerheads can be found in Marriott and Westin hotels, as well as the White House."

No wonder the state ran out of money to care for these places...
