Nicole, yes these locations are generally unsafe, since they aren't maintained anymore. A massive portion of this particular machine has fallen due to snapped cables; anyone under it would have been crushed under tons of steel.

A few folks have died while exploring an old building or drain. I've had a brush with death at one or two places myself.
