Dag gum! Those things are more baffling than the poison sign.
Has anyone imagined how much more we puny little humans could accomplish if we didn't have to eat or sleep?!?
If you had a thin arm and wrist, you could reach up the shute fairly easy and maneuver one can at a time out. Bottles were much trickier. Nowadays, you need a bomb.
Not boring in the least, fofmer resident. Quite the contrary.
What's with the incredibly preserved ceiling in this shot, Motts??!! And the floor tiles too??!! These were either put down by some real pros or the place is pretty weather resistant. Or both.
Great photo all around, Motts! Background, foreground, angle, light. Love it.
The old girl is litterally clinging to life.
The sad truth is...Worcester State Hospital was one of the greatest American architectural structures of all time. To see her in person, stripped of her wings, is depressing for the purist. But at the same time, thankful for what is left.
Thanks for the great info Alex. This place is an absolute gem! Her strong and beautiful sandstone body will stand tall for centuries. Barring you know what.
Indeed a wonderful shot, Motts. A rare carpet photo to boot.
Excellent find, Motts!
Lynne,
WOW! You might be right. I definitely respect your opinion. Kirkbrides are my favorite buildings and to choose a "Grand Daddy" or an "Above the rest," that's just way too tough. I will say Buffalo State, Worcester, and Greystone are up there with Danvers architecturally.
I'm a fan of this.
Just being funny with the title Sketch and I'm well aware of reality. No hard feelings.
That other crazy Jack movie was filmed in Oregon also. One flew, One fell, two...three...uh...A person flying somewhere. Am I close?
