It also, makes one realize that someone, somewhere in a building wrought with inhumanities, that someone really tried to give them something decent at the end.
We all have to remember that not everyone who worked in these facilities then were bad, horrible and cruel people. Sadly, it's the bad stories we remember because they are so prevalent.

Often you will find specialized EMS training teams inside old buildings working things like Confined Space Rescue, and Rope Rescue Tenchiques.
Also you will find Search and Rescue Special Teams working in abandonned buildings learning how to safely walk and transverse precariously balanced things.
Buildings like these make for great training.

IF we took the time to look, learn, and appreciate what went on in these buildings, we could learn more and progess in care.
Rather than to disrespect, and allow the care to stop. The disrespect that someone shows for old buildings, only shows that they have no respect or undestanding of the past.
Grafitti aside.
What I mean, is arson, broken windows, and stealing things from buildings like this.
An arsonist, will burn bridges in life until they lead a lonely existance.
Someone who smashes, has no care for another's belongings, until one of theirs gets broken.
A theif, will never appreciate how hard it is to work for what they really want. For them it's the easy way.
Someone who fails to show respect, will never know respect.
And someone who just goes along because their friends all do it... Will have a hard time being a leader.
At least these are the observations I have made in my life.

It's been closed for years, but I would love to take a camera and see what kind of disrepair the old amusement park is in now.

Many of the old buildings that would be closed in every other city are still in business, and the owners work to preserve the history of the buildings here. So much so that a favorite coffee shop of Serrena's and mine, has had to start closing at 5pm. because they were having problems with vandalism of the historic site that it is in.
The building is an old Soda Works. On the first floor of the building is a mine shaft, that goes back about 200 feet. Because of the constant temperature in the mine shaft it was once used as an Ice House.
I promise to not tell you about the graffitti in there, or about how the kids think it is perfectly okay to kick the brick walls until mortar falls out and they now have a growing hole. To think this building isn't even vacant...

The owners would offer no help, so the removal of some structures within a home often required careful planning.
One would not want to remove the solid oak and leaded glass french doors and archway from a weight bearing wall first.
One house we worked in we removed a clawfoot tub, a cast iron kitchen sink, with hand pump.
We had also removed stained glass windows.
So yes obtaining hand crafted and antique items can be down, howver, it has to be done almost immediately or the decay and vandalism results in both decreased value and irrepairable damage, so that it wouldn't be worth removing.

Ghosts are an interesting concept.
I do believe that every living being leaves an impression on the physical world.
I mean really. Who's gone house shopping (apartments count too) and when you walk into the house you can feel the prior residents. Wether it was a happy home or a not so happy home.
Do I believe that the spirits rise from the dead and haunt the living? Yes and no.
I believe that the not so happy feelings result in a lingering sensation of 'haunted'.
But no, I don't believe in seeing a physical manifestation of a manical demon coming to get me.
