This shot and the next one are my favorites of this gallery. I've been reading a lot of HP Lovecraft recently and this gallery eerily reminds me of his stories. These shots are very mature and elegant and add your distinct personal style, whereas someone else might be more sensationalist and disrepectful simply because they are in the presence of corpses. They're beautiful.

I find it interesting how, in this shoot, reflections of your older work are much more prominent. However, when you get near the end of the photos, it seems you get more comfortable with the place and bring in the newer Motts flair. As always, complex, interesting, beautiful and stunning gallery.

This reminds me of some of the old still life paintings from the 1800's. Very expressive. I like.

Of course such asylums were not nearly as grim when in operation. In fact, they had many advantages over modern mental hospitals.

I've used hydrotherapy at home to treat acute anxiety. Soaking in a tub of cold water works best: It induces a mild, relaxing hypothermic state. Provides pleasant relief when one is extremely anxious. It's a pity shrinkers abandoned such treatment -- which can be patient-controlled and thus empowering -- for drugs that have side effects and can even be addictive.

Motts, I notice you're using more angles and slanted view points. You've never really done that before. I was wondering what brought about that change? Experimenting with new things?

I can't believe every time I see a new gallery you get better and better. I am so in love with all your work. It's so great.

I like the sharp starkness. Great contrast. What can I say? I can't resist your black and whites. :)

I love the wide angle lense. It creates a sense of vertigo.

Motts, I'd like to see the rest of the place if you ever plan on going back. The breathing difficulties and discomfort might make for extremely interesting photos. I'd love to see if the discomfort shows in your photos.

What I've noticed most about this building is the different colors that are reflected through the windows and off the wall paper. This is one of my favorites. Hopefully you'll go back someday, I'd love to see more!

FFS, this building was freaking huge.

This reminds me of those old photos you see in the factories of the WWII era.

Agreed, Jude. I the softness and natural light always win.

I don't know how I feel about that metal rod. I'm looking at it different ways and it seems so violently placed in the photo, but the picture wouldn't be the same without it. I'm glad you didn't crop it out.
