The Hotel Sterling still stands was on the news today
They say that the fate of hotel is still undecided would cost 35 million to renovate sucks because I grew up here and remember when the hotel was open was beautiful!!!
They had to beautify everything back in the days: how many eyes would actually SEE this? They decorated so elegantly and pleasurably, am always wondering if people were kinder and nicer with all the scrolls and leaves on their mind, and surrounded by them. Nice find! Am enjoying this gallery a lot. May you always be well and safe is my wish.
Very sad to know cityvest robbed any potential left in the old building. Today looks nothing like any of these pictures inside, its an empty, dark, wet shell that is going to fall down. The only marble that is left are the beautiful 2 story tall pillars and even their days are numbered. THIS IS A JOKE ALREADY WE NEED TO kick cityvest out. The people should be in charge - obviously THE PEOPLE care more about this historical place then cityvest -who only cares about the depth of their own pockets!
It would not cost as much to restore if it had not been left to rot. Somebody could have at least fixed the roof to preserve the interior for crying out loud.
Thank you, Bertha, for sharing your fond memories.
Damn flood. Or dam the flood? Or damn the corrupt officials for not using the money to fix this up. Shopping on the main floor, lodgings, apartments above. Just do it.
What is with the yellow electrical cord above the door? If one follows the arc of the circle it will show that this room is not really that big. Probably not a bedroom. Maybe it was a dressing room? Can't you picture the little pouf stool in the middle and some mirrors? Interesting to see the damage in the outer room. Such a contrast.
I believe somebody posted that the area no longer has any industry to support the town. Therefore, nobody is wants to spend the money due to a lack of return on the investment. Poor non-industrial USA. Bring back our factories from foreign ground and make the world right again.
