And what's the likelihood that a structure
built nowadays will have similar decorations?

Makes me sick that we're losing so much
of this beautiful construction.

'Expulsion' is right.
Jeebus, it looks like the ceiling has vomited
its contents like a living creature!

Good God!
It looks as if every surface and material in here
is teeming with mold and fungus. BLECH!

Man, where do you FIND these places? This hotel's amazing... I bet that fireplace was magnificent back when it was fairly new. <3 I've remodeled old buildings from the early 1900's and late Victorian and they're always a real treasure, especially if you can find little details still in tact //_^
That window looks upset.

Looks more like the Overlook Hotel, from
'The Shining' about 75 years later.

The true shame of it all is that something
like this, which was certainly custom-made,
has been turned into nothing more than
useless rubble.
That only really applies to places that are on the site under a pseudonym. There are a couple. Pretty pointless putting a place like this under a pseudonym when it's gone. :)
Looks like water damage to me. While the boards in the ceiling are blackened, there's no real evidence of soot blacking or fire damaged debris on the floor.
Wow, almost Escherlike...

Quality shot, Motts.

I've been looking at this website for a while now and it is amazing (I am fascinated by abandoned mental hospitals and the history of mental health care). Motts, your photography skills are spectacular! I felt particularly compelled to post a comment here as I live a mere 40 minutes or so from Wilkes-Barre. I've never heard of this hotel until now so it is really neat to see photos of a place nearby! Keep up the awesome work, Motts. I will surely comment on other galleries :)

Motts, how do you white balance? Is it just left on automatic, do you custom white balance to get some of the trippy colors in stuff like "Center Stairs", or is the majority of it post processing?
Very nice set, i haven't commented here in a while, and this set caused me to (mainly because of the comments, but hey, it still did)

To: Cyber
it got renovated, not demolished
i love that it says "Comments pertaining to real location names... ...are subject to immediate deletion and your ip address being banned from this website." yet you put a couple of photos with the real location name and you're using it... although it was renovated, so i guess it doesn't really matter.
